Privacy Policy

Overview

TechCadence ("we", "us", "our") operates techcadence.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to operate the service:

• Email address — provided voluntarily when you subscribe to our weekly digest, save your starred companies to a watchlist, join the Enterprise waitlist, sign in with Google, add it to a date-correction report, or give it with a request to delete or copy your data.
• Feedback submissions — the text you submit through the feedback form, along with the type of feedback (suggestion, bug report, or company request).
• Usage data — Cloudflare, which hosts the site, processes standard request data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, and keeps our server's request logs for up to 7 days; each entry records a request to our server with the details Cloudflare attaches to it, which can include your IP address and browser details, and, for the tracking image and links in our emails and the link a saved watchlist uses, your email address. We do not copy these logs anywhere else. To limit abuse, subscribing, unsubscribing, saving a watchlist, joining the waitlist, reporting a wrong date, sending feedback, recording interest in a page, asking us to delete or copy your data, and the tracking image and links in our emails keep your IP address in a rate-limit counter for up to one hour from the first request it counts, and a minute longer at most (for an IPv6 address, only the /64 network it belongs to). Viewing a page, and visiting the site through a network security service we recognize (such as Zscaler or Cloudflare WARP), are counted per minute by Cloudflare's rate limiter instead, which receives your IP address (for an IPv6 address, only its /64 network); we keep no copy of that count. Our own visit log records, for each page you view, a random visitor ID that your browser keeps in local storage, the page, the referring page, your browser's user-agent string, and the network and country Cloudflare reports for your connection. If you are signed in, it also records your email address and plan. It does not record your IP address.
• Email-linked interest — if we have your email address, we record some of the pages you view (for example pricing or a company page) and whether you open or click our emails: each digest carries a small tracking image and links that pass through our server, and both carry a signed token that contains your email address. Saving a watchlist also creates or updates your email-linked interest record, which then holds the companies you starred, the company name in your email address's domain, the network number Cloudflare reports for your connection (with its name, if it belongs to a corporate network security service we recognize, such as Zscaler), how many times you have saved, when we first and last saw you, and a score and tier worked out from this record. A higher tier adds a note about Enterprise plans to your digest.

How We Use Your Information

• Email subscriptions — to send you the weekly tech event digest on Sundays and occasional service updates.
• Feedback — to improve the product based on your suggestions.
• Analytics — to understand usage patterns and improve the service, using the visit log above and Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless page-load measurement that Cloudflare adds to our pages. We do not use Google Analytics or any advertising tracker.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Cloudflare Workers KV and Cloudflare D1. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, data storage, and Cloudflare Web Analytics.
• Resend — email delivery.
• Google — sign-in with your Google account, only if you choose it, and web fonts, which your browser loads from Google's servers, sending them your IP address and browser details.
• News sources — company pages show news thumbnails that your browser loads directly from each news source's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details.
• Hacker News (searched through Algolia) — company pages search it from your browser for recent discussion of the company, which sends it your IP address, browser details and the company searched for.
• Finnhub, SEC EDGAR and other public data sources — event information. No personal data is shared with these services.

Cookies

TechCadence sets one first-party cookie, and only when you sign in: a session cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. We set no analytics or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set essential security cookies as part of its CDN and DDoS protection services.

Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage to save your preferences, such as starred companies and dismissed banners, and the random visitor ID described above. Preferences stay on your device unless you save your starred companies to a watchlist with your email address. The visitor ID, and your email address if you gave it to us, are sent to our servers with the visit and interest records described above.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Unsubscribe — every digest and welcome email includes an unsubscribe link; alert emails stop when you turn off or delete the alert rule.
• Request deletion — use the form below to request deletion of your email address and any associated data.
• Access your data — use the form below to request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.

The form keeps your request apart from feedback: which of the two you asked for, the email address you give and when you sent it. We store it without your IP address. We delete a request once we have dealt with it, and never to make room: if 5,000 are open, the form asks you to try again later. If the form is flooded, we may clear the requests sent during the flood together, without dealing with each one. You can always also send your request to hello@techcadence.app.

Data Retention

Your digest subscription lasts until you unsubscribe, which removes your email address from our subscriber list. Watchlists are kept until you ask us to delete them (see Your Rights); they do not expire on their own. If you sign in, your account (email address, plan, any team members you invite, and the display name, time zone and email preferences you set) is kept until you ask us to delete it. Visit records are deleted after 30 days, and email-linked interest records 180 days after they last change. A visitor ID we label in our admin tools keeps that label, and the time we set it, for up to 45 days, and nothing else is stored about it; the one exception is a label marking one of our own browsers, which we keep until we remove it. Feedback submissions are retained to help us improve the product, 500 at most (past that, the oldest we have dealt with are deleted first, then the oldest still open), while a request to delete or copy your data is kept apart from them, and deleted as Your Rights describes.

Children's Privacy

TechCadence is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
